MESH webGIS & Metadata Catalogue
Welcome to the MESH Project's
interactive geographic information system (GIS) called
MESH webGIS, which is linked
to the
MESH Metadata
Catalogue.
The MESH webGIS and Metadata
Catalogue are available at no cost to the user, but we do ask
users to register their details with the MESH Project so we can
monitor the level of interest in these applications, and contact
users when we make signification changes. If you are an
existing user you do not need to register again
- simply use the
links below to query a map, launch
the mapper, or search the metadata catalogue.

MESH webGIS
MESH webGIS presents the seabed
habitat maps produced by the MESH project, with supporting layers
showing coastlines and administrative areas, physical data (e.g.
bathymetry, seabed geology), biological sample data and
images of the seabed. There are pages providing more detailed
background
information and
detailed
help. The last major update of the MESH webGIS was
31/03/2008.
Registered users can either
select the information they wish to view or simply start the
mapper and then browse for information by clicking the
relevant icon below.

Build a
query allows you to select a geographic area and/or a layer to
view, or search for a specific habitat of interest. |
|
Launch the mapper opens a basic map view, by-passing
the query page. You can zoom and add layers
manually.
|
|
Download data layers opens
a page describing the layers available to download, from which
you select the required layers |

MESH Metadata Catalogue
The MESH Metadata Catalogue
contains information about over 1000 seabed mapping studies.
It links to the MESH webGIS so that the user can view a map of
the study area and any available habitat data. The MESH webGIS
retrieves background information about each study from the Metadata
Catalogue and can be used to carry out spatial searches for mapping
studies. The last major update of the metadatabase was made on
31/03/2008.

Simple search:
This allows users to search for information by choosing one option
from a selection of categories, such as Country or Survey
technique. |
